New Year – Workwise

Today, marks the first day that many return to work after the Christmas and New Year break, of course, there are some some that have worked all the way though, but it is generally accepted Workwise, today is Day One.

So what is important, is that we think about the 2100 hours that we will work this year, and may sure that we are happy to face it. Life is to short to be unhappy at work.

I speak as someone that loves my current role, I enjoy my job day on day, however over Christmas I have spoken to people deeply unhappy ith their careers, and not one mentioned wages as the issue, but pressure and lack of opportunity. Plainly, it does not make sense to give up a position without having a new one, but one can plan for the future. Taking an opportunity to join the Open University to improve qualifications, or a local evening school. Surely if, you are unhappy, don’t just accept it, do something about it.

Talking to someone this holiday, she took this advice last year, and improved her qualifications, did she leave the job she was unhappy with, well No, in fact her increase in confidence meant she spoke to her boss and got changes implemented within the business, the benefit she gained was more respect in the business and is still working with colleagues she got along with.

Just planning for the change, can help people feel better. When moving forward, take time to reflect.
